What do the xbox 360 graphics look like without HDTV?
Author: admin // Category: HDTV AccessoriesI am getting the xbox 360 premium relatively soon. Unfortunately, the premium package doesn't come with component cables for HDTV and I can't afford the 40.00 $ cables with all the other accessories quite yet. I will get the cables probably a couple months after I buy the 360, but I was wondering if the graphics on the 360 still looked good without HDTV. And also, does playing the 360 on an HDTV without the special HDTV cables make the graphics look worse?
I have an HDTV, but I just don't think I can get the component cables very soon. I have a very nice TV. It's a 54" HD. So, the 360 would be playing on a good tv, but it wouldn't be HD.
I had it hooked up without HDTV and it did not look good to me. So I went out and purchased a HDTV and now I love it.

Plasma TV Question: What accessories do I need to get the best picture?
Author: admin // Category: HDTV AccessoriesJust got a 50" plasma tv but don't have any accessories except the HDMI cable that connects to my Hi-Def DVD player. I have basic cable but plan to get digital cable very soon (next week). The tv has a built-in tuner to pick up HDTV but I'm not sure what that means? Don't I need an antenna for that? I've see an HDTV Digital Receiver at Best Buy – do I need one of those? Thanks for the help!
With a built-in tuner you do not need an additional box to receive over-the-air High Definition TV. Depending on your location you may receive all the typical broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, and FOX) in glorious High Definition with an amazing picture! There are no bandwith limitations with over-the-air signals. I have included a link below to a picture of the typical exterior High Definition antennae.
Next I would recommend the DVD “Digital Video Essentials” and optimize your Plasma. Watching the DVD will teach you how to make the most of your picture quality. It’s only $19 from Amazon.
If you’re using the cables that came with your equipment, they’re worth what you paid for them. Discard them and at a minimum buy cables from RadioShack with the correct impedance and shielding. For best results – I recommend the cables from BetterCables.com – reasonably priced high-end cables.
Lastly the better your plasma – the more critical your signal source will be. You will probably find basic cable unacceptable and wonder if there is something wrong with your set.
Strongly suggest you consider a Satellite PVR – Satellite costs less than cable with a better picture and High Definition PVR’s can record many hours of High Definition programming.
Negotiate for the best deal prior to signing a contract. You are only a new customer once and can get incredible deals and equipment. I highly recommend the Dish Network 622 PVR.

what cables or accessories do i need to connect my pc to my HDTV?
Author: admin // Category: HDTV Accessories
If you PC has a DVI output and your TV has HDMI inputs, then you really should go with a dvi to HDMI cable for superior quality. VGA is analog and DVI is digital.

in the picture: the left one is what VGA looks like, DVI is on right. That's not the cable you will need though.
Just search the internet for: dvi to hdmi cable
It's much cheaper to buy cheap cables online then much more expensive ones in the store.

What should I be looking for when purchasing an hdtv?
Author: admin // Category: HDTV AccessoriesWe are looking at buying our first HDTV for Christmas this year. What is the difference between plasma and LCD? 720 vs 1080? Also, what additional accessories are required (cables, etc). Do I need to have it installed professionally or can I do it myself? Thanks!
1. Plasma vs. LCD: see the link below.
2. 720 vs 1080: 1080 indicates finer resolution, very desirable on screen sizes of 37 inches and up.
3. Nothing extra required. Connect a signal source (antenna, cable, or satellite), plug it in, and follow the directions.
4. You can do it. For large sets, get a helper to help lift it. My 46 inch Samsung LCD set is only about 50 pounds but very bulky.

HDTV: Component vs DVI vs VGA for my accessories?
Author: admin // Category: HDTV AccessoriesI have a slightly older HDTV. It has a DVI port instead of HDMI and supports up to 1080i but not 1080p.
My question is because it doesnt support 1080p when hooking up accessories such as Wii, Xbox 360, or DVD players will I notice a difference between the 3 methods?
For example, I have an upconvert DVD player in my HD port and Xbox in my Component. Would I notice a difference in my Xbox in the HD port instead of the component seeing as the component and HD port both only support up to 1080i?
By three methods I meant choosing between Component, DVI, or VGA
The component and DVI port will support 1080i,720p,480i and 480p. If your equipment has a HDMI output you can buy a cable that converts HDMI to DVI but you will need to run the sound separate because DVI does video only, unlike HDMI that does video and sound. Same applies for component hook up. Best quality is HDMI then DVI,component, composite.
I would hook up the DVD with HD up conversion to the DVI and the game system to the component input.
