I'm trying to pick out a good affordable HDTV ![]()
If you think a Kia is a good car brand…….than Sylvania is a good tv.
All sarcasm aside, No. Not a good brand. For a 32" I would stick with the name brands, Sony, Sharp, Toshiba (consumer reports top pick) LG and Samsung.

I have a 20in. Sylvania LCD HDTV with screen problems…?
Author: admin // Category: Sylvania HDTVI was watching TV and all of a sudden the picture on the screen split in two with picture cut in half on the top and bottom of the screen. The picture is also slow, looking almost frozen on the screen. there was no blow to the TV or impact of any sort. What can i do about this? Solutions that won’t hurt my pocket will be best, even if just a temporary fix until i can get a new TV. If that isn’t a possibility how much would i be looking at in repairs?
Assuming that the TV is out of warranty…….
TV First Aid
1. Unplug TV power cord for a while. Then plug it back in and try the TV. Modern TVs have computer chips in them and occasionally they just need a “cold boot” to reset them.
2. Try using the A/V jacks with an external source. There is a slight chance that it will work OK in video mode in which case you could use an old VCR or converter box as an external tuner.
3. Smack your TV a few times, it might just be a loose connection.
Other than that, it’s not economically feasible to have someone else fix your set. You can however, buy a used tube type TV really cheap to tide you over.
