I’m sure many (are …
I’m sure many (are going to) say, “DVD doesn’t look like that,” but please be aware that still pictures of both DVD and Blu-ray will look worse than in motion since movies have motion blur. And since it’s hard to take screencaps of objects keeping extremely still, then motion blur will blur finer details in movies when taking pictures.

I’m starting to like youtube a lot more. More HD please. Bluray also adds a lot more colour to the visuals.
Does anyone know if a Samsung 5.1 Home cinema DVD system can be replaced by a stand alone Bluray player? Or do I have to keep the DVD player and connect a Bluray player to it in order for the 5 speakers to work?

Yea u really do …
Yea u really do need hdmi. It makes everything so much better. Anyway dvd is that blurry. I have a 1080p 50 inch HDTV and a ps3 and dvd player (both have hdmi) and the dvd is a lot more blurry on a big screen.

If you don’t click …
If you don’t click watch in HD then they both look the same. And the DVD side is taken way out of context. I don’t care which is better but my DVD’s look nothing like that. Even the downloaded ones. I don’t want to fork out loads of money for Blu-Ray player when they both look the same. I’ll stick to my ordinary DVD player and HD TV thank you very much.

This is so fake …
This is so fake when they compare the DVD & Blu-Ray quality. DVD version isn’t that blurry. That’s more like VHS. If you have a Blu-Ray Player and play a Blu-Ray movie on your HDTV, the quality is still the same as the DVD version. You need an HDMI cord to make the picture look better. However, the price for Blu-Ray is so ridiculous that its not even worth it. Also, if your HDTV is not an LCD, 1080P, and/or 120 HZ, then you will only find a small improvement of the picture quality. *FACT*

there is no …
there is no question, Blu-Ray is better than DVD, its quite unfortunate because DVD’s quality is still very high when compare to today’s standards.
Many people just ume Blu-Ray is better, Its always good to read reviews on the internet first before you buy one because sometimes there is not a strong difference in the quality.

Btw, i dont think …
Btw, i dont think HD VMD will “kill” Blu-Ray (40mbps vs 48mbps + it doesnt support HD audio). Also, I dont think a new format by an unknown third party will be widely supported by Hollywood.
The only major Hollywood Studio that might support it would be Warner Brothers, seeing as how they are the only neutral studio. Sony Pictures will never release on it since Blu-Ray is owned by Sony. Disney has invested to much in Blu-Ray to back out now. Paramount has the deal with the HD DVD group etc.
